Generation
Hoosier Energy owns and operates two coal-fired baseload generating plants in southern Indiana, the Frank E. Ratts Generating Station and the Merom Generating Station. Both plants contain two generating units. Total baseload capacity is 1,266 megawatts (MW), 250 MW at Ratts and 1,016 MW at Merom.

In addition, Hoosier Energy owns an interest in two natural gas-fired peaking plants in southern Indiana having a total of 432 MW generation capacity.

In addition to serving the needs of member systems, Hoosier Energy sells wholesale power to utilities in the East and Midwest. All-time maximum member system load is 1,366 MW.

Transmission
Hoosier Energy owns nearly 1,400 miles of transmission lines, 15 primary substations and 240 distribution substations and delivery points. To further maximize reliability and transmission design efficiency, Hoosier Energy has interconnection agreements with two investor-owned electric utilities serving central and southern Indiana which permit any of the parties to connect and supply to and from each other's transmission facilities.

Hoosier Energy owns primarily 345 kilovolt (kV), 161 kV and 69 kV transmission lines.

Distribution
Hoosier Energy's member systems' electric service territory covers approximately 15,000 square miles in central and southern Indiana, nearly half the total land area of the state. Collectively, they serve just over 270,000 customers with 31,700 miles of energized distribution lines, primarily at 12.5 kV.
